Galactic Alignment

The Long Count is due to end on December 21, 2012 and a galactic alignment is also due to take place when the Mayan Long Count calendar is over. A galactic alignment is a space phenomenon that only happens once every twenty six thousand years. It happens when the equator of the sun, the equator of the Earth, and the equator of the Milky Way galaxy are all completely aligned. Over the last thirty five hundred years, Earth has slowly but surely drifted towards the center of the Milky Way galaxy. The galactic alignment happens on the Winter Solstice. The fact that the Mayan Long Count calendar ends the same year as the galactic alignment are all due to happen around the same time, it is easy to see why many folks are feeling paranoids and frightened of a catastrophic event.

What Happens in a Galactic Alignment

Position A is where our sun (and solar system) was in the Milky Way 3,000 years ago. Position B shows our sun’s position 1,500 years ago. And position C is where our sun will be on December 21st – 23rd, 2012. This is also called the December Solstice, when our whole solar system aligns perfectly in the center of the Milky Way Galaxy – a Galactic Alignment.

The Black Hole

Some scientists believe that there is a black hole located in the center of the Milky Way galaxy. This black hole is said to be one of the most massive and dense black holes known to man. A black hole is a massive ball of energy that is so dense that that it sucks anything near it into itself. Not even light can escape a black hole. Thirty million stars are said to gravitate to this black hole. It is over twenty seven thousand light years long. This black hole is also said to be four million times more massive than our sun. Some scientists believe that the sun will rise on December 21, 2012 in the sky where this black hole is located. With the alignment of the sun, Earth, and this black hole occurring, some are afraid the Earth will be sucked into the black hole. Others seem to think that the galactic alignment will cause a cataclysmic event that will rock the world, like the Ice Age. The last time the Mayan calender ended it was called by the Mayans as a period of water. Some historians seem to think that the Mayans were referring to the biblical reference of Noah and the ark. Other folks seem to think that the Earth’s wobble and angle will be the thing that sends us soaring into a black hole, but this does not really make sense. The Earth is always wobbling and moving. It simply cannot be felt by Earth’s inhabitants.

Ancient Religion & Culture

The ancient Mayans named the black hole that is located in the center of the Milky Way galaxy ‘Xilbalba’. Xilbalba is one of the many Mayan gods that represents death and the underworld. When Xilbalba  is translated, it means place of fear. Other ancient cultures believed that this black hole was a portal for demons to enter the world. Other religions state that the Antichrist will enter our dimension through this black hole, into our galaxy.

The Effects of a Galactic Alignment

In a galactic alignment, there will be massive outbursts of energy. One effect would trigger our Sun to increase in solar activity, thus causing a massive solar storm. We already have been experiencing abnormal solar activity these couple of years, as the biggest storm was recorded in 1859 and 1921. NASA has even issued a solar storm warning in the year 2012!

Another possibility during a Galactic Alignment is a geomagnetic Pole Shift. In this scenario, the Earth’s polar axis “wobbles” as the magnetic north pole becomes the south, and the South Pole becomes north. There are considerable amount of historical geological data that supports the fact that a magnetic pole reversal has indeed taken place in the course of history – even long before mankind walked the Earth. Geologists have found that the pole shift in the past has caused a major cataclysmic disaster causing the Earth’s tectonic plates to collide, triggering huge earthquakes, Super Volcanoes, and tsunamis. This pole shift has begun to take place as evidenced by the recent strange weather and earthquake activity over the years.

In previous Galactic Alignments, the pole shift happened so quick that many ancients who were unaware were wiped out immediately simply because they were not prepared. They didn’t possess technology like we have today, nor did they have proper survival techniques. Given the data that’s provided today, we have a higher rate of survival. The question is how far one would go to fight for their own life in case any cataclysmic events do take place. There are those who will do nothing about it, and then there are a few who would take drastic action to survive.

Polar Shift to Cause a Modern Day Ice Age?

Other scientists state that a polar shift would cause a modern day ice age. Scientists state that drastic weather changes would occur on the Earth. Any drastic change to sensitive ecosystems can completely kill off the entire plant, animal, and human species in the ecosystem. Some may evolve and adapt to the new living environment, as many plants and animals did during the last ice age, but most would die. These scientists go on to say that a polar shift would cause the countries below or near the equator that are naturally warm would become a wasteland of ice and snow. Countries that normally experience cold weather would have tropical like paradises. That is until the polar ice caps melt and sea levels are turned upside down.
